We are so grateful you are here! We are Mary Beth and Bryce and we are excited to share our adventures with you! We both grew up in Louisville, KY and attended church together starting in 8th grade. We started dating before our senior year of high school and got married in August 2011. I grew up on a farm and have always loved being outdoors, working with animals and teaching children. Bryce was an Eagle Scout and spent countless weekends hiking, biking, and backpacking as he was growing up. I taught in the public school system for five years in Lexington, KY (Preschool, 3rd grade and 7th grade) after we graduated from Harding University in 2012. Once Henry was born, I became a stay-at-home mom and have loved the last eight years in my new role. We now have 4 children- Henry, Owen, Grace, and Emma. Bryce is an Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon). He finished medical school at the University of Kentucky in 2016, and completed his residency there in June 2021.
God called us to serve the poor overseas via many different experiences in our lives, including short term trips to Mexico during our high school years, our college mentors who served in Kenya, and our Lexington church’s involvement with a Nigerian orphanage. After residency, Bryce and I joined a Samaritan’s Purse program designed to help new missionaries get established overseas. We had an amazing experience with them, and are a little sad to finish their program in July 2025.
We have now joined Christian Health Service Corps, the only mission sending agency that specializes in sending medical providers. We were drawn to the organization through their reflection of Jesus’ heart for the poor and suffering. They have the smallest administrative cost of any major sending organization, and are committed to prioritizing support for mission hospitals and missionaries over administrative costs. CHSC is a well known partner of Kijabe Hospital, so we are will be doing exactly in the same thing in Kenya that we were before.
The past three years have been a time of learning, growing and affirming our calling. We are far from perfect and definitely don’t have all the answers. We just wanted to share our lives with you and we pray that this will be a blessing for you. We thank God for this opportunity and we thank you for caring about our family and all that God is doing in our village! We will be sharing on this blog and on our youtube channel.

Why Kenya?
Bryce has felt called to be a medical missionary since high school. It certainly has been a long road of medical training to get to this point! Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery is a pretty specialized area of medicine, so Bryce needs to work in a large size hospital. The AIC-Kijabe Hospital is the only mission hospital in Africa with a full time ENT department. For our first assignment abroad, we thought it was important that Bryce have a mentor to help him adapt his practice to the area. Also, the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) has a general surgery residency program at Kijabe. Bryce will be able to help train these surgical residents, as well as the ENT residents from the Kenyatta Hospital in Nairobi.
